Tagalog, a prospective federal state in northern Philippines sitting west of the Bicol Peninsula. The name Tagalog comes from tagailog, "people of the river," describing the Tagalog people.

People  The Tagalog are a very civilized lot. They have a deeply ingrained discipline to conduct themselves courteously and with outward respect, and this polite nature is exemplified in their practices and language structure. They were also the first to develop the native writing system of the Philippines, the baybayin, hard proof of the Tagalog's pre-Hispanic civility.
